Benefits: Blue Lily is often confused with Blue Lotus, which is actually a different species of aquatic plant, Nelumbo nucifera. Blue Lily, or Nymphaea caerulea, is the aquatic plant found depicted in many ancient Egyptian works of art and literature. This plant contains the psychoactive alkaloid aporphine and may provide a more euphoric experience. 3

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Type: Floating Aquatic Plant

Height: The leaves float on the surface of the water while the flowers can rise several inches above

Leaves: Broad and rounded, between 10 to 16 inches across. 1

Flowers: Round flowers with bluish-purple petals surrounding a yellow-orange center. They grow to about 4 to 6 inches in diameter. 1

Fruit: Very small, dark brown colored, ovular shaped seeds.
